The need
Ageism has devastating impacts on older people and adverse effects our health care system, workplaces, the economy and our culture. Global research shows 1 in 2 people are ageist towards older people and ageism:
While awareness of the problem of ageism is growing - there is an urgent need to accelerate the pace of the enormous cultural shift required. We need to bring older people, service providers, community leaders, advocates, researchers, policy makers and others together to learn from each other and build resources and momentum for change - thats what Embolden does.
The Embolden Festival includes a Symposium, Congress of Older People's Voices from the Margins, a Market of Great Ideas and a Fashion event. It produces resources to empower people leading change to combat ageism. Evaluation data published in The Embolden Collection shows the event is practical and leads to culture change.
